A few days ago I bought a lot of 18 pocket knives at an estate sale. Most of which were Case XX . I got this one Case knife that is stamped CASE one dot USA , from what I understand is 1989. Doesn't case put a pattern stamp on the other blade. This knife does not have any other tang stamps on it. All the other case knives I own have a pattern stamp. Anybody have any ideas about this knife

Might be just a factory error. They happen.

That knife is a rework - or may be a Case factory repair.
It appears to be an 06244 pattern. 3-1/4" closed.
Two things - the 06244 was discontinued in 1979 and that is a 1989 stamp.
The shield is the older style which would date the knife (actually the frame/handles) to 1970-73.
I'm guessing that both blades were replaced. Most likely a knife sent to Case to have worn or broken blades replaced.

Wish Case made that knife is a 4-inch version. Would be perfect EDC.

They did make it - look for the 06247 PEN, 3-7/8" closed. Discontinued in 1983 but a lot of them out there. I sell a lot of them, both mint and used, very popular pattern.
