The crazy bidding champion of the week. I knew these went for more than I want to spend but Holy Moley, this is just nuts (to me). (click twice on the bottom image)

The 6217 Loom Fixer is very much a valued knife to some collectors. Particularly with bone handles. I mention this because I am not at all surprised by the final price. But that is just my opinion.

But "hardman" that's not the final price. There are almost 4 more days to go.

Ahhhh, I remember the good ol days when I used to pick up the wood handled ones for $30!

For a nice bone handled one I don’t think that’s out of the question depending on the blade condition. For reference, I recently bought a 1974 wood scaled version in good shape. After shipping, sales tax, etc I gave $59 and change and thought I did pretty decent.

Sooo, to high for my means? Yep. Out of reason? Probably not. But you can’t go buy a new CASE Loomfixer after all.

Ah, I just noticed that part. My prediction is it’ll go for somewhere around $200 give or take.

I suspect a couple of 'shill' bidders are working that one. 4***7 bidder has a 12% bid history for that seller and has 2 bid retractions in the past 12 months. Bidder 9***2 has 33 bid retractions in the past 12 months. It appears bidder 4***7 picked up where bidder 9***2 left off. To me, this is suspicious activity, especially with just under four days remaining on the auction.

When I was buying on ebay and saw this kind of stuff, I avoided those sellers like the plague. Lots of 'red flags' flying.

I had a niggling there might be some shill bidding going on but don't have the instinct or experience you have.

At least it's not a Rough Ryder someone is bidding way too much on..like over $20. I couldn't resist..but seriously-- funny how some people love one pattern and others don't care for it..me, personally, I'm not crazy about this pattern so $50 would be a lot for me.... curious to see what it goes for....

Why people keep bidding against each other trying to be in 'first place', is something i do not understand. They are likely just making the price go higher for the eventual winner.
I think some are just having fun bidding. They are not planning on winning so they increase their bid by small increments.

Roland, I think you are correct with part of the story - it's just an entertaining game for some of these people. Look at the bids by 4**7 (whoever that is), the last 2 bids are just that person bidding against himself or herself! Just playing a game of trying to stay in first place. I think the other part of the story is that some of these people are just idiots.

On another note, the 6217 is one of my favorite patterns. It's hard to find nice ones in bone, and the one in the auction looks exceptionally nice.

I once saw a Chinese Remington in faux abalone sell at auction for $130, that has set the idiocracy standard. . . so far.

These Loom Fixers are sought after, as stated by hardman. Perfect size and an interesting main blade, almost as cool as a Cotton blade.

She is a sweet knife for sure, not too crazy priced (yet). I don't know how much they are worth, but, definitely not nutty yet. Too bad I don't collect them, or I would be all over it...
Thanks for posting Jerry, and calm down man, many older cases are getting real expensive of late.
