the little wife and i left after christmas headin nw from w'ford through the plains of tx. to see the palo duro canyons in the panhandle. stopped in matador to check out mooremaker. hmmm asked directions in the only service station i saw. they had a nice display of mooremakers. very small town, got directions from the clerk and set off on the 1/2 mile drive to their "store". evidently they only do on-line and mail order. bummer.
back on the road we encountered freezing fog. wow. like a winter wonderland. snowed the next two days. we camped out in a motel in amarillo. the canyon park was great. like a grand canyon jr. it's so flat you can't see it till you're on the edge. indians hid here for many years. big wars took place there. charles goodnight helped settle the area and brought cattle and ranchers. a few pics if you're still interested includind a dugout shelter goodknight wintered in. there was still snow but sunny. oh yeah. a pic of the cadilac ranch.

It sounds like you mad lemon-add out of a lemon trip.

I am very glad I don't have to live in that shack for a winter, but for a week end it mite be fun in the fall...

I wounder what the 2 large post at the corners of the shack were for ?

Those are great pictures Johnnie...It sounds like you had a great experience and I appreciate you sharing that with us so we can enjoy the trip as well.

That Palo Duro landscape looks like an 'innie' instead of the ' outie' I'd expect to see in the West.

thanks, it was great fun. hey ken, actually we expected snow, so it was no lemonade. the mooremaker visit was just a sidetrip. no big deal. i did make some yellow snow!

did'nt think about checkin for fellow members along the way. we are plannin on returnin in the spring to see the play at the park. maybe we can meet up.

Just give a shout. Texas is a pretty good show though I haven't seen it in many many years. Pretty neat special effects off the canyon walls as I recall. Amarillo's got a "fair" Knife and gun show usually in May or June. Kelley

my favorite as well. blasphemic as it sounds, forty creek took over my crown spot.

I never have put it in the freezer. Just put a couple of ice cubes in it and enjoy. IMO it's better than Crown and a whole lot cheaper. Gary google Forty Creek. It won all kinds of awards as one of the best. Made in Canada by a microbiologist of all things. My only problem is I have to drive 25 miles to get it.
