All About Pocket Knives

[size50][/size]. Along with several knives purchased yesterday was a Remington r4466. When looking up information on this knive I saw a forum comment and a reply both expressing amazement that someone else found this particular knive. Both people said it is a very rare knive and in mint condition may be worth 1800 to 2000. My knive is a long way from mint! But I did get excited because both said the Knife was very rare! Upon further looking, I found many R4466 on the aapt site for sale, some for as little as 35.00. Yesterday was the first I knew of aapk and I just logged on today. I would appreciate a reply from someone who might tell me what I am missing. Thank you. Paul

None of the R4466s in the AAPK stores are original Remingtons, they replicas made in 1988. The original R4466s are the rare ones. We would like to see pictures of your knife.

Hi Paul , welcome to AAPK ,the R4466 (Baby Muskrat )was a knife made by Remington in the 1920's and 30's ,It was 3 3/4" long closed with genuine stag handles,they are one of the rarer bullet knives and command a high price.And when something commands a high price people like to counterfeit them. In the 1980's Camillus made authorized Bullet knives and in 1988 they reproduced the R4466 Baby Muskrat ,the same size and blades configuration but with Delrin (simulated stag) handles,they will also be stamped with the year 1988 on one of the tangs.This is probably what you see for sale in the $35.00 to $60.00 range. I have seen more counterfeit 4466 than real ones, Most of the fakes are easy to detect if you know what to look for and study them, some are hard to tell unless you have a lot of experience at looking at fake knives.Show us some photos ,there are some very knowledgeable collectors on AAPK.
