Best things about AAPK

I think the best part of AAPK is the friendships made here. Then when you meet some of the guys person to person, usually it is good. I have several AAPK friends I stay in touch with. Get advice and sometimes give a little about knives and other things.

I think I've said it before on here, 99.9% of the members are civil with each other. They know how to have a conversation without being condescending or outright ugly with other members, unlike some other knife forums.
The one thing we all have running through our veins is our love of collecting, buying, selling or repairing knives. We know and acknowledge that all of us are on different levels of knowledge, skills and abilities. When we can, we help each other and that helps all of us to grow and testifies to the credibility of AAPK as an organization. When I go to my home office, reading AAPK is the first and last thing I do every day.

As has been said, it's the people but the icing on the cake is management (owner and moderators) don't have a stick up their butt and a head the size of Mount Rushmore. They don't try to "run the show".

Very well put David! ::tu:: ::nod::

I'll try not to go "Overboard" on this post but...,

I am very greatful for the friendship & fellowship I have found here. Although I don't wish to go into the full depth of it all here in the open, I can say I went through some real rock bottom stuff a few years ago. On top of all that crap I was going through, I also lost my father in 2016 who was my best friend. ::facepalm::

I must say that I felt pretty lost and that I was really struggling. As my Mom mentioned my Grandfather's Purina EDC a couple of years ago, I immediately became interested in knives. ::hmm::

Yes..., I was searching for something. Something to restore some things that had been broken & shattered. And something to fill the empty space left behind after the loss of my dad. And yes..., maybe I was even grasping at straws. ::hmm::

But..., you know what? It worked! ::uc:: I actually caught ahold of something. ::hmm::

A new hobby that I truely enjoy and that is helping me put some things in my life back together. Slowly but surely. And..., many caring new friends that fill the void I was feeling after my father's death.

I am very thankful for both! ::handshake:: ::nod::

The monthly giveaway is so much more than picking a number and congratulating a winner that words don’t do it justice.

As mentioned, the really cool thing is making friends all over the world.
The bummer is not being able to visit each and every one in person.

The comradery, the generosity, the knowledge...
This is a great site, but it is a product of the people - great people make for a great website!!

I'm happy to be a part of it.

It’s like sitting around with friends over a favorite beverage, talking and showing knives, sharing experiences, and did I say talking knives? I appreciate the collective knowledge, and the willingness to share it without being snarky or condescending to anyone (occasional poking of fun included  ).

It is a great place! Great people! I have made new friends and go into the site daily, many times a day actually. So many great folks who love knives and share their knowledge and wonderful acquisitions for all to enjoy! :)

In the two and a half years since I became a member...and eventually a supporting member, I've grown to have the privilege and honor of getting to know many members on a personal level via emails and phone calls. Nevertheless, each and every member knifer, in some way, has added to my knowledge base and expertise about various different knives, along with a myriad of 'off topic' knowledge that tended to make me less ignorant.

I may not always 'log in' to cuss & discuss specific threads, topics, knives, etc.,...but whether I log in or not, I ALWAYS find myself checking out various forums, topics and threads at least three times a day, if not more. AAPK has become an emotional addiction to me, in different ways...and there is always something to pique my interest as I peruse the forums.

Thanks to all for the Camaraderie and Friendship...I truly appreciate it. ::handshake::

And a HUGE Thank You to Bryan for providing an AWESOME venue for us...and Thank You to those who Moderate / Administrate on our behalf. ::tu:: ::handshake::

I like it here too. I stop in here a lot more often than I post.

If that little "ONLINE' banner in the upper right corner of my post doesn't expire immediately after I log off, it's probably there almost constantly. Once I log off I'm back again within 15 minutes in most cases.

I'm very thankful for AAPK and its members. I hope this forum lives as long as I do and beyond.

I was in lockdown for 7 months, it helped me no end fill in the days and kept me sane, or half sane anyway  , and i am sure there would be many members in a similar boat. ::tu::

Now that's a very good & probably underestimated point there cudgee! ::nod:: I too have been on lockdown for the better part of the last year. Some of it was forced upon us, but some of it was self inflickted lockdown somewhere between fear & common sense. The only thing "fun" I have done in the last year was go to two small flea markets for about an hr. each time. (They were outside & I wore a mask.)
I suppose I'd be going ::pace:: bonkers ::tease:: by now without this hobby & the AAPK. ::nod::
