All About Pocket Knives

I just finished this one up for my brother in law who picked it up in a box of stuff at an auction. It was not in real bad shape, normal wear except that the pile side bone scale was missing. My brother in law said to "just redo it with some wood". But since the mark side had good bone on it yet, I decided to try to just replace the pile side. I had some Culpepper bone slabs on hand, but nothing that matched the original. Plus everything I had was matched pairs that I didnt want to break up. So I rummaged thru the box until I found this piece of Angus beef femur that I got at the Petsmart store a couple of years ago. I was able to cut and shape a new pile side scale from this piece of bone. It has been dyed with brown leather dye and jigged with the Dremel tool. Not an exact match in color or jigging, but close enough for an EDC. I know my brother in law will put this in his pocket and use the heck out of it, so I am sure it will be OK with him.

There's a good reason the mark side is lighter than the pile side - it was sitting in the store display case with the sun beating down on it!
