This one takes the cake. The blatant greed of some folks just pisses me off. I know there's a "make an offer" option but starting out with a price like that just reeks of a rip off artist. Go to any knife show and that knife would be in the $5 or Less bin, or free to whomever. Most all of the listings are waaay overpriced as well.

Sad to say but seems like a large percentage of "stuff" on the bay is this way. I mean a dude can ask what he wants but at some point its just ridiculous

It just clogs up the bay with listings that go unsold for months or even years.

Exactly!
But as long as EBay allows them to keep relisting for free we’ll continue to see the same ridiculous items month after month and year after year.
EBay just isn’t a great place to shop anymore...

There's a guy on a gun auction site that had dozens, maybe hundreds, of old, broken, rusty derelict knives that he has priced at $50 and up. No bids on pages and pages of his wonderful offerings. I can't think of any explanation short of mental illness,

[I'd say Pre WWII may be safe enough to say " Vintage"

I think proper use of the term “vintage” should have a year or a timeframe included. It could be “vintage 1940’s”, “vintage 1910-1950”, or “vintage 2019”. In any case if you’re going to say vintage, a time period should be included. To just say the item is vintage means nothing. “Antique”, “old”, “classic”, etc are some of the more appropriate terms which could and should be used. But that ship has already sailed.

Just another example of current day cultural rot, social media and the decay of basic education in the “three Rs”.

I went in and read that post and most of the replies. If I remember correctly, eBay defines a vintage knife as one prior to 1970 manufacture. Not completely sure which side of the line the 1970s fall on but that should give an idea as to the eBay definition, not that anybody there will pay any attention to it. It is a very overused term.

Very true, Ken. Right now you can probably buy 2020 vintage wine, or at least 2019 vintage. I think on eBay "vintage" is just a catch word.

I just saw the post...If it belonged to Buffalo Bill, then it is a bargain, if not the $2 bin. One can ask whatever they want, it doesn't mean someone will buy it it at the asking price, and if someone does buy it, then I refer to W C Fields...never give a sucker an even break.
