Berge Thier/France Knife

First of all I would like to say thanks to the members who advised me to get the Goins' Encyclopedia....
It's great and I've learned quite a bit of information although there are a few knifes I would like to expand upon
One being a 6-bladed knife marked....master blade (Mark Side) Berge Thier...(pile side) France...
this knife is extremely well made, near mint four inches closed not counting the bail which appears to be gold or similar type material
this knife has French ivory handles, one milled brass liner possibly custom made....
I looked in the knife book and all I found Berge on pg. 15
Just asking if anyone has another knife like this maybe a little more history and the age of this knife?

With the caplifter I would say no older than early 1900s. My copy of Goins does not have a Berge. The "crown" type of bottle cap was not invented until 1890 and it took some time for them to become popular, especially in Europe. All bottle companies had to re-tool to make bottles with crown caps so it didn't happen overnight once the cap system was invented. I think if the bail were gold it would be marked as such, it is likely just a different brass alloy. Also no reason to put a gold bail on a utilitarian knife with celluloid scales. Cool old Frenchie for sure. Your page 15 shows a Barge, not Berge.

It probably says,"Bargeon Thiers";a knife manufacturer of multi-blade and automatic knives.If you Google the name Bargeon you will come up with several examples of knives very similar to yours. I just did a post in the European and other foreign manufacturers forum about French made knives that feature several examples of this pattern.

Thanks for the correction when I looked at the knife again the name stamped on blade is... Barge...
my mistake funny how typo with one letter can change the whole outcome...

I have that same knife.
French ivory celluloid. The center liner is coined (milled).
Master, mark side: BARGEON
THIERS
Pile side: FRANCE
Pretty sure the bail is brass.

Thanks edge....Your knife looks to be identical to mine...Do you know the time-period for the knives...Would you think around early 1900's

Awww...I found another knife of the same pattern slightly larger with nice bone handles....the only stamp on this knife is 30 on the large blade
I"ve been told these knives are the french verison of scout knives
