"GIMME AN ,"A"....................

Thought I would have a little fun today and start a post that anyone can post in;should they so desire.
In my document file I have a folder titled,"Alphabet Knives" that has a bunch of knives posted in alphabetical order. I started this awhile ago to see if I could go through the alphabet using a knife maker's name for each letter and how many times I could do it without repeating myself.(I know;I know;it sounds like fun for the feeble-minded).
So this post will deal strictly with knives whose maker's names start with the letter "A". Why don't we see how many DIFFERENT ones we can come up with? Here goes:
#1 AB Solingen (not sure if the manufacturer's last name starts with an A or a B)
#2 Adams & Brother Germany
#3 Ad-Nife.
#4 Advertising Spec.Co.Chicago(Germany)
#5 Aerial Cutlery Co.
#6 Aitor Spain
#7 Albacete
#8 Altenbach Swan Works Germany
#9 Ambassador Prov. RI
#10 Amefa KL-63 Dutch military knife.

Sounds like a neat gig, do you want only makers that haven’t been mentioned. For example ,have some Aerials ,but you posted that maker,is this what you’re wanting ?
Also ,wonder how many we will see the most of in which letter ,anybody all ready working on that one? A couple come to mind .

You can post whatever you like.I would prefer one's that have not already been mentioned but it's not set in stone. I would like to clarify one point if I might:
When I suggested the letter A it was referring to the letter that began the LAST name of the manufacturer but if anyone wants to post a knife with the letter A as the FIRST name start that is fine with me.
I am currently preparing a list starting with the letter B and if anyone would like to start a post with another letter,please feel free to do so.It's all in fun.

"E.T. Allen S.F." (San Francisco CA)
Here is a 4 blade, pearl handled, swell center equal end, with tip bolsters. All four blades are marked.
2 & 1/2" closed.
There are a few "Allen" knife manufacturers, this one is from "E.T. Allen S.F." (San Francisco CA)
1878-1899. (Per Levine)
121 to 143 years old and still very snappy and firm.

You have an 'American Shear' knife in your second posting knife7knut. However, rules not being 'set in stone' I thought I would add my American Shear Ebony Jack.
My below American Shear & Knife Co. folder is a 3-1/2" Ebony Jack. Both blades have half stops. Match striker on master blade is cut in very tiny increments. Knife still has plenty of snap.
Ebony is a "Hard Wood" and many color variations exist, such as the two tone ebony handle on this knife.
I think it adds a little character in appearance.
American Shear & Knife Co. was in production from 1853-1914. However, they did not start producing pocket knives until 1870.

Nice knife Dan! Thanks for sharing it. As to my trying to clear up what I considered a manufacturer starting with the letter A: If it is a proper name(such as Joseph Rodgers which I would list under R) then the first letter of the last name should be an A.If in the case of a company name then the first letter of the name(American Shear & Knife)would fall under the letter A. As I said before;the rules are never set in stone;I just like seeing pictures of knives!
BTW That Allen 4 blade pearl is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing it!

Yes, the Allen knife is one of my favorites. Any knife this old with surviving Pearl handles is pretty remarkable.

Here is another different Allen: G& J.Allen Celebrated Cutlery. Wish it was in better shape. The pique work dates it to about 1840-1850.Note the tapered back spring on the top shot.

WOW, look at all the workmanship to have produced that knife.
Could have possibly been carried and used by a 'soon to be' Civil War Soldier. (1861-1865)
