Is this knife marked correctly? Looks just like my Schrade NY USA trapper marked 293. I understood the 294 to be a jack with one shorter blade. Could someone please educate me?

The 294 has a pen secondary. Sometimes the main blade might be switched out as they are the same for both patterns.

The Schrade 293 is indeed a two blade trapper. One spey and one clip blade. The 294 is one clip and one pen blade. clips were the same usually on the 293 and 294. Blades were just used in different frames, if the factory had run dry on a certain pattern.

It seems over the years that there was nothing surprising coming out of the Schrade factory. I have several models that blades have been interchanged during manufacturing. "It is what it is" as they say.
