Joseph Rodgers & Sons MOP Lockback

Always nice to find an old lockback in mother of pearl about 185mm open (7.3 Inches)
THe blade has been sharpened but the MOP scales are perfect

Very pretty knife and in great shape. You seem to have different sources than around my neighborhood. You sure are getting some knice ones. My son lived in Freiburg in Germany several years ago. Not far from you.

Very nice older knife. I would guess age to be from early 1900's ? If someone knows otherwise please post so we all can learn.

That is a beautiful old knife with that very nice lock on the back.
A very nice carry and a real treasure.

I don't think it is a "Fruit knife". Fruit knives had a sterling silver blade until stainless steel came along in 1920's. And Fruit knives did not have locking blades. Looks like it is ~ 3 3/4" closed, so i see it as a 'general purpose' knife which could certainly be used to cut fruit & veges, just clean blade shortly after use.

Thanks for that correction Roland.
I called them that due to sellers on Etsy referring to them as F/K, but your logic makes perfect sense to me.
