All About Pocket Knives

I really like the Anvil Brand knives that were produced by Colonial. I have collected a few, both with the ANVIL PROV USA tang stamp and those with the Colonial tang stamp. Most seem to be well made knives and have good feel to them with varying handles. This week I picked up this one that was still in the original box and seems to have never been used or put on a stone. It is a 3-3/8" trapper with white delrin scales with the reddish brown highlights and has the Anvil shield. I believe the master blade is Colonial's version of a California Clip blade and has a blade etch with "HONED EDGE". The secondary pen blade has a tang stamp with the patent number. Both blades have excellent snap with positive half stops. Pen blade does have a couple of spiders.

That one looks to be in great shape Smitty ! mine is a stockman with 3 springs.

I like them. So much so that I collect them when I can. Found this sales display a few years back. Love the steel in them. Nice looking knife you have there!

I keep these around because they are pleasing to the eye and I like the feel. This one was a gift from Old Hunter.

This money clip, lobster pattern or style of advertising pocket knife, arrived in a group or lot of pocket knives that I bought. But, this particular pocket knife was NOT the target of my purchase. It is an ANVIL, one blade, one tool (a file), two tang stamps, 1 1/8" X 2" closed, advertising, money clip, lobster pattern or style of pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp says "ANVIL (over) PROV. U.S.A." The tool front tang stamp says "STAIN (over) LESS" One handle side has a "plaque" attached with the letters "CTA" (Chicago Transit Authority?) The other handle side is the money clip. This pocket knife is in VERY GOOD condition. It did NOT need any cleaning. I just wiped it off. I took some pictures and here it is.

I recently acquired this Anvil 3 blade, 2 spring stockman, which is 3 and 3/8 inches OAL. The pen blade carries the patent number 3,317,996 of the Colonial method for attaching the bolsters.
