I have been eyeing this instead of a Microtech.

I like how the switch is on the front but slightly off to the side. Interesting look. $300 is a bit steep for me. Usually my limit as far as what I spend on a knife is $250.

I like it, and I am NOT an OTF guy!

Captain O, Although I am not knowledgeable in the world of automatic knives, I do think the OTF you have chosen is certainly a good looking knife.

Thank you, sir. I try to "do my homework/research" before I make a purchase. If the black-handled had been available, I would have ordered it. This knife has the 145CM steel blade and, IMHO, the highly desirable clip point blade. When you watch the knife during a review/critique, I think that you'll draw the same conclusion I did. Impressive, handy, and downright useful. What's not to appreciate?
The handle is contoured for a safe grip and the firing button is in a good position for quick actuation and safe access. The fact that it is solidly built and made here in the Pacific Northwest (specifically, Twin Falls, ID) adds to the attraction. (I'm a sucker for things that are built here). At 2.83 ounces, the knife is easily carried and quickly drawn when needed. The titanium pocket clip is strong and keeps the knife securely in place.
I already have four Pirhana Knives (Virus, "X", P1 or "Pocket", and the "FIngerling") are all great examples of their great work. The "Rated-'R'" OTF should be just as good, if not better.

I received an email informing me that I'll have the Piranha knife tomorrow. I'll let everyone know of my first impressions as soon as I am able.

I
do believe that I snagged that last of the blue-handled, black firing-slide, mirror-polished, clip-point blade models. To paraphrase the immortal words of Duke The Crow from the 1972 X-rated animated feature film Fritz The Cat,
"I think it has coolness"
VICTORY from the jaws of defeat!
