https://www.ebay.com/itm/234446383784?h ... SwhhpiHq86 This one is a terrible fake. Case never made this pattern during the W.R. CASE & SONS era that I know of. (In fact I don't think they made one until the Case-Bose collaboration). W.R. Case did not own the rights to use TESTED XX trademark until after the W.R. CASE & Sons stamp ceased being used. No part of this knife is Case.

So far he's not fooling anyone Ken. It's a 5 day auction with a little over a day left to go and no one has bid on it yet. 8)

Seller has updated the description by adding the following:
Update 3-5-22: This knife is purported to have been produced in the 1990's (perhaps earlier) and is not intended to be an early W.R. Case & Sons! Although this is being listed for a collector friend of mine with over 60 years collecting experience, another experienced collector who viewed this listing is of the opinion that this knife is a fake, not made by Case! But I am not aware of any fake Case knives being made or being sold! So, if you have any information to add, please do so!
Although this seller has a few knives listed, they obviously are not knowledgeable about knives. Especially not so when saying they are “not aware of any fake Case knives being made or being sold”! ::dang::

Ken, I sent this message to the seller since he has asked for further infomation.
As an experienced colletor with 40 plus years dealing in antique cutlery I can tell you that fake Case knives like the one you have listed are sold on eBay every day. Case knives are not the only brand faked and there are sellers on eBay that repeatedly and knowingly sell these fake knives. Ebay is somewhat of a bastion for sellers who offer these fakes given that many buyers lack the basic skills to detect these counterfeit knives.

Thanks Wayne. Unfortunately this isn’t the first seller that believed a “friend who is a collector”. I shudder when I think of the number of counterfeits residing in collections. ::dang::

I appreciate all those who clue us up to the fakes. Hope someone here will know whether this is or not, but the stamp looks wrong to me and is so worn down gotta wonder because the rest of the knife doesn't at all show the wear like the stamp.

Knife isn't right. Different length back springs and back squares of blades don't matcth up evenly. Stamp doesn't need to be examined after seeing this. Seller also says that the scales have no problems but I would consider the center spring crack on the back handle to be a problem.

What Wayne is describing, here’s the seller’s pictures showing the misaligned blades.
