OLD SCHRADE FRIENDS

Show the ones you carry and USE. They can be a little bit fancy if you like but they have to be ones you are not afraid to use, maybe even pretty hard, and do so. I have this old 881Y that has seen plenty of work and it is like the battery rabbit... keeps on keepin' on. It gets a little rusty in my pocket and I clean it and oil it and touch it up and back in business and we have been Friends for some years now. I think the AAPK term is 'HOK,' or 'honest old knife.'

This one stays on the table next to my recliner.
I use it just about every day. The 8OT is one of my favorite patterns. ::tu::

Ancient cartoons from the 1920s or maybe even earlier. We used to have a Gentleman here, Ken who only collected yellow knives. His house burned down and he disappeared shortly thereafter. I miss him.

I got this out to carry today. I like that it has a great looking
shield and has the Craftsman name on it. The fit and finish
is excellent. I think it is from 1980.

This old Schrade 881 is a true survivor. I dropped it in the deer woods somewhere in the early '80's, after field dressing and dragging a deer to where I could get close with my truck to load him up. Looked around a few times but never found the knife.
Fastforward one year, I found the knife laying between the ruts of a skidder trail where the loggers had worked during the summer, sun faded, a bit rusty but still usable after a bit of cleaning. It doesn't get much pocket time anymore but is considered an old friend.
Used to buy denim work shirts name "Faded Glory", that name fits this old friend.

I carry this Heritage pretty often, although in stainless it doesn't show it much.

This 880 Kon-Kav gets some pocket time and has plenty of life left.

Thanks, doglegg. Even for a stockman guy, I have to admit it's a great pattern. I recently added this Schrade Walden, which so far I have not carried.
