My BIGHEAD Mods
My BIGHEAD Mods
Almost hate to say anything because BIGHEAD is the best kept secret I've ever accidentally stumbled onto. It all started with a Case 07 Mini Trapper I found & bought on eBay. When I posted it in the Ode To The 07 thread, Barry recognized it as one he had done.
Once I discovered his identity, I wasted no time requesting a couple more mods.
First up was this 2002 Case 6107W...
...which Barry turned into a stunning piece of pocket jewelry with Natural Jade G-10 covers and some incredible fancy filework
Next up was this Taylor Eyewitness Wharncliffe Swayback which began life as a somewhat ugly "toad" wearing rough black synthetic skin...
...that BIGHEAD transformed into a dashing "Prince" with some spectacular Mammoth Ivory. The pièce de résistance

Re: My BIGHEAD Mods
BIGHEAD was kind enough to modify this Case Wharncliffe 54 Trapper for me in the same style as the Wharncliffe Mini Trapper 07 shown above. Notice the great job Barry did on the shield (the part all knife mechanics universally despise the most). Now my Mini-T has a matching big brother to keep it company in my display cabinet.
BEFORE (with factory green canvas Micarta covers):
AFTER (with natural jade G-10 covers and Barry's world famous file work and signed liner): As you can tell from the patina on the blade, this knife has already seen some use...in fact, it's been in my hand or pocket pretty much from the moment I got it back from Barry's workshop!

Thanks guys and glad you like it Q.

Re: My BIGHEAD Mods
My latest BIGHEAD mod. This one is a Fight'n Rooster that had an outgassing celluloid handle. Barry put a stop to that problem right quick with some nice Mammoth Ivory Bark covers. I liked this knife before the mod, but I absolutely LOVE it after the mod.

That's a beauty Q, I see why you like it. Great work!
Re: My BIGHEAD Mods
I don't have a "Before" photo of this 1995 Case _207 Mini Trapper because I bought it already modified. It's the ultimate shadow pattern with no top or bottom bolsters AND no metal liners under the Mammoth covers. Pretty cool; only one like it in my collection.

Don't know how I missed this one ~Q~, but I did! That's a beautiful knife, and the covers on your latest posted knife look great also, as well as it being a cool design without liners!QTCut5 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 26, 2022 10:21 pm My latest BIGHEAD mod. Re: My BIGHEAD Mods
Congrats Q on a load of awesomeness. Wow I love that Taylor Wharn with Mammoth. Looks like a knife worth 5, 6, maybe 7 hundred clams now. Absolute beauty, like a one of a kind custom. I guess it is customized for sure. Way to go BIGHEAD, you just vastly improved the knife world to me. And Q. Way to go the both of you, those babies are incredible. Same with that Fighting Rooster. BEST looking FRooster I have EVER seen bar none. Wooooooooooooooooow.
