My father carried one just like it for years and gave it to my brother-in-law. He bought for $15.00 knowing it was a fake. Looks like it has a few bids.

So much ::barf:: ::barf:: ::barf::

Did Remington ever even use a Bomb shield? I just looked at every Remington Sargent (4th Edition) has pictured, none like this. ::shrug::

I just read the seller's information, and I think they really may not know anything about knives. And, I've never seen an ebay auction description that was so honest about the cigarette smoke smell! P.S. I do like the 2 Remington sowbellies with "bollocks" shields in my copy of Sargents 3rd ed.

Only a guess on my part. I don't know enough about classic Remington knives to state anything for certain. There is a modern China / Remington / sowbelly knife that sold on Ebay. I don't know how many variations of that pattern they issued. Maybe the knife in the OP isn't a counterfeit, but a modern made China knife. Notice China is stenciled on the back of the blade and could be removed with solvent.

The OP knife has the Remington "Made in the USA" tang stamp, but the frame shape, blade designs, and the matchstrike pulls are all dead ringers for the Chinese version.
Something is definitely not right.
