KA- BAR showed this knife probably in the 1923 book but W.R.CASE & SONS had it a lot earlier.

Wow! If the knife in the 3rd picture is yours JKB, it's definitely in the best condition of a knife like that I've seen. They're usually much more beaten-up than yours, giving your copy the appearance of being brand new. Very cool, thx for showing us! 8)

And what makes you think Case made them earlier?? The first one I believe was made by Marbles and I also think the Case version was made for them by Union. The one shown has rough black scales, they also came in Bone from Union Cut, and yellow cell. Remember, the Case tang stamp charts are all messed up for early Case knives. (There is no proof the "tested" mark began in 1920 and we know for sure it did not end in 1940).

I didn’t say Case made them, I showed they were in Sargents 2nd EDITION in the Case section. Marbles did have a tri fold knife in 1908.

Yours is an extremely nice example JKB. ::tu:: Thanks for showing it here.

I don’t know the history on the pattern, but regardless who made it I have a Case version (pattern 6001) stamped CASE BRADFORD on one side of the blade, and CASE’S TESTED on the other side. Worm groove Rogers’ bone covers. Most folks say that stamp pre-dates the Case Tested XX era, i.e. pre-1920 (or whenever that was). The “Tested” stamp came into use by W.R. Case after they obtained the rights to it from Case Brothers Cutlery, which happened soon after (or as part of) the Case Brothers bankruptcy, fairly well documented by court records as being May, 1915).

I have only seen the nickel-silver Marble's versions. Awesome condition on that one, Jkb. ::nod::👍
