Taiwan Pocket Knives.
This pocket knife arrived recently in a large group or lot of pocket knives that I purchased. I did NOT buy the group or lot of pocket knives to obtain this particular pocket knife. However, as it turned out, it is a keeper. It now becomes the latest addition to my general pocket knife collection. It's an "UNBRANDED", one blade, two tang stamps, 3 3/8" closed, fish themed, pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp says "VANADIUM (over) STAINLESS STEEL" The main blade back tang stamp says "TAIWAN" The main handle side has a nice graphic of a fish jumping out of the water for its meal. It is in EXCELLENT condition. It needed no cleaning, I just wiped it off, took some pictures and here it is.

This pocket knife arrived in a very large group or lot of pocket knives that I bought. This particular pocket knife was NOT the target of my purchase. But, as it turned out, it is a keeper. It made a most welcome addition to my general pocket knife collection. It is an "UNBRANDED", one partially serrated blade, 3 3/4" closed and 6 5/8" open, one tang stamp, "tactical" pattern or style of pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp says "Stainless (over) Taiwan" It has a movable thumb stud. It has the "Erector Set" handles. It appears to be very well made. Overall, it is in EXCELLENT condition and required minimal cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.

Wow Skip, nice score! I'm liking the colorful Sodbuster that appears to have all-metal handles, a favorite of mine, and Smith & Wesson "Ranger" or a similar CRKT model comes to mind for the other knife, but that is strictly my opinion, I could be waaay off. It's been my experience that most knives with a stationary clip are inexpensive imports. You got a couple of cool ones whatever they are!

Re: Taiwan Pocket Knives.
Taiwan has been putting out some fine knives for years. The Boker Magnums and Kal 74's are made there among many others.

This pocket knife arrived very recently in a very large group or lot of pocket knives that I purchased. It now becomes the most recent example to be posted under this topic or thread and to be added to my general pocket knife collection. I did NOT buy the group or lot of pocket knives to obtain this particular pocket knife. It is an "UNBRANDED", one blade (with fish scaler and cap lifter or bottle opener), one blade stamp, 4 3/4" closed and 8 3/8" open, "butterfly" pattern or style of pocket knife. The main blade front stamp says "STAINLESS STEEL (over) TAIWAN" Overall, it is in VERY GOOD condition.
It did not need any cleaning at all. I took some pictures and here it is.

Re: Taiwan Pocket Knives.
I have a couple of pocket knives and a CRKT fixed blade that were made in Taiwan. They are good, well made, quality knives.

Re: Taiwan Pocket Knives.
I think this is the only Taiwan made knife I have, I got this "Joker" in a trade at a gunshow involving a bunch of stuff. Has a handy pocket clip, liner lock, and very fast opening action by way of a opening lever. A spring holds the blade shut until such time as enough pressure is put on the lever to overcome the spring, then the blade flies out. I sharpened this the other day and the 1045 steel used is very hard. It took the diamond stones of the Lansky and a fair amount of elbow grease to get an edge.

Re: Taiwan Pocket Knives.
Cool knife, O.C.!
It's the latest version of an OTF knife, and my understanding is that these are well made.
I'm thinking they used hard steel for their blades cuz knives like this are meant for stabbing much more than for cutting, so a sharp edge isn't necessary, even though the blade has serrations.
I like the color too!

It's not an OTF, it's a folder. I've had it for about 20 years. I like it because even with arthritis in the hands, it opens easily with one hand.Madmarco wrote: ↑Sun Mar 05, 2023 10:23 pm Cool knife, O.C.!

Re: Taiwan Pocket Knives.
Oh really, OC.
I've only ever seen that style knife as an OTF, it being a side opener is totally new to me, and I'm liking it.
Thx for straightening that out for me.

I should have also shown these shots of the side opening blade, the open frame with liner lock, and pocket clip.

Re: Taiwan Pocket Knives.
Thanks for those additional shots, OC.
I appreciate you showing them, since the originals didn't show any indication your knife is a side-opener, and as I'd said, I'd only ever seen these as OTF knives.
I prefer your knife MUCH more!

Re: Taiwan Pocket Knives.
I have several times that were made in Taiwan, mostly earlier CRKT models. I believe Gerber actually had a couple of knives made in Taiwan as well that were decent quality knives.
They're no stranger to high quality technical manufacturing in Taiwan since they largest producer of computer chips in the world, at least last time I heard.

This Statue Of Liberty anniversary pocket knife arrived in a very large group or lot of pocket knives that I bought. I did NOT buy the group or lot of pocket knives to obtain this particular pocket knife. It now becomes the latest example to be posted under this topic or thread. It is a TAIWAN, one blade, two tang stamps, a blade etch, 4 1/4" closed, lockback, pocket knife. The main blade etch says "1886 - 1986" with an image of the torch between the dates. The main blade front tang stamp says "857692" The main blade back tang stamp says "STAINLESS (over) TAIWAN" The main handle side has a Statue Of Liberty scale and also has the 1886 - 1986 dates on it. The scale on the other handle side is missing. Still, it is in EXCELLENT condition. It needed no cleaning at all. I just wiped it off. I took some pictures and here it is.

Re: Taiwan Pocket Knives.
I reviewed a bunch of SOG knives today and every single one was made in Taiwan, even the 35th anniversary one for $400.
To those who fought for it, freedom has a flavor the protected ones will never know.

I may have the other scale - funny it was in some of my fathers things and for some reason i kept it - no knifeNew_Windsor_NY wrote: ↑Wed May 24, 2023 5:30 pm This Statue Of Liberty anniversary pocket knife arrived in a very large group or lot of pocket knives that I bought. Re: Taiwan Pocket Knives.
It does look like it would fit. I looked at the same knives on eBay and there are MANY.
They are definitely NOT expensive knives. But, it would be nice to have both scales.
