I recently inherited my father's extensive knife collection and am having difficulty identifying certain knives. Can someone identify this automatic knife? It is an "out the front" type of automatic. Thanks in advance!

::welcome:: to AAPK P996! ::handshake:: I believe your knife is a Rob Dalton build, mid-level OTF. You can also check at www.arizonacustomknives.com , a totally safe link. They have them for sale everyday. 8)

Hi Madmarco, thanks for the info! It is indeed a Rob Dalton M-6 OTF. I think I saw another mystery knife in the collection with the same maker's logo, so now I need to research that one as well.

Ah, that's good man, glad to help. Please show us ALL your knives you inherited, we LOVE pictures here, and I especially like autos. 8)

It's a relatively big collection, although probably small compared to some of the collectors on this forum. But I will get on with the task of photographing all of them. There are lots of unbranded "Italian" style stilettos, some old German switchblades, and many modern ones. Also a lot of quality non-automatic folders and fixed blades. I'll try to post them all, later this week.

I didn't mean all at once buddy, I wouldn't ask that of you or anyone, maybe 1 a day or so? Will any be for sale? 8)

Yes, I am sure that some will be for sale. He had doubles and even triples (!) of some, and so I will certainly sell some of those. More to come...

Rob Dalton has a big following. I don't think he makes any knives now never could get in touch with him . ::handshake::

I did find the other Rob Dalton knife in my father's collection. It is a "Scout" model.

That's a cool little EDC, P996. ::tu:: Dalton builds multiple models of knives along with plenty of variations of certain models. They're fairly popular knives with collectors. 8)
