I've never seen this one... What is it called? (the shield)

Is it an authentic Case shield?

Yes it is an authentic Case shield. Per knifedb.com:

Making a Case for America" shield. Shown in 2008 Summer promotional products catalog. Has burnt oat barnboard jigged bone handles and a rectangular stylized American flag shield. Master blade says "MAKING A CASE FOR AMERICA" in red. Came in a rectangular "MAKING A CASE FOR AMERICA" tin.

Also shown is a knife from 2009 having the same shield. Says the shield was used for the “MAKING A CASE FOR AMERICA” promotion and appeared in the summer 2008 and spring 2009 promotions catalogs. Examples of both trapper and mini-trapper patterns are pictured - there may have been others.

Yes, I'm a paying subscriber at knifedb.com. Kinda like AAPK, I use both often and to me it's worth it. If I get value I got no problems paying. Some people want a free ride and then gripe when whatever they were using "free" goes broke. Or they find out like a lot of on line stuff they thought was free, they themselves are the product being sold.
