This is what GEC collecting has become. Some of the Distributors hold back these knives and sell them at an inflated price. GEC allows these unethical
tactics. There are also buyers who have developed relationships with as many distributors as they can, then they buy up what ever the limit may be (2
per customer ie.) and then immediately put them on ebay at a 100% markup. I buy a scattered few of GECs now. If I see a pattern I like, I go to GEC
distributor "Franks Classic Knives" and get mine. Frank is a straight up honest man and is appalled by the tactics by some of his fellow distributors. Find
you a reputable distributor and develop a relationship and get on his reserve list.

The flippers have been making a fortune off of GEC knives for a long time.
GEC might as well get in on it as long as people are dumb enough to keep paying such high prices.
I would rather my money go to the manufacturer than flippers.
I know if I was a knife maker and flippers were selling my knives for 3 or 4 times my retail, I would definitely raise my prices.

I received an email from a dealer that doesn't mark GEC price up and the 87 camel bone was listed for $231.10 so I would think the dealers that are marking the price up will be inline with GEC store if not higher. By the time I get the email knives are gone at just about any dealer I check with so I'm saving money I miss the good old days

TKC had some the other day at 271 so this must be the full suggested retail price you are seeing at GEC. It’s as high a price as a Northwoods in camel bone use to be so looks like inflation has hit these as well. I know GEC dealers started raising prices to be closer to the suggested retail about 2 years ago. Many before this were selling at the MAP, which stands for the Minimum Agreed Price. It’s too bad the profits have all gone to the dealers now, at least you had a chance of getting one at the lower price but not now, and they still sell out so fast that those of us with slow internet connections get shut out. When folks were complaining about flippers, I knew this would happen, why shouldn’t the dealers make as much off of them as they can when they sell out in seconds? No need to keep prices low for loyal customers when you sell out so quickly and there are still thousands of people out there that are still willing to pay so much. Simply supply and demand.
I have seen one dealer that sells on eBay selling his quota at 319 apiece. They aren’t selling out in seconds but days at that price.

Just yesterday morning, I was looking at the English Jacks on evilbay. Stunned at prices. Then, I found one at the 225 mark. I took a chance, offered the seller (who had 3 of them for sale) 175. He accepted. Now, it's a seller I've never bought from before, so I await its arrival hoping all is good.
I know I've paid what I thought was "too much" for some GEC's, but I felt good at the 175 price.
BTW, I am also stunned at what folks are getting for the Beerlow that they offer --- I've seen them sell for 225-250. Yikes!

Just now heard back from GEC. They are $290 out the door. Well, 3 of us were headed down but thats a no go now. Got onto the GEC knives too late in the game. Too bad, nice knives, nice folks.
