antique early large case bradford 1905-20 pocket knife

I'm not sure that I would exactly call this a "counterfeit". As the seller says, a rare, old knife which just happens to also be marked "Toledo" (maybe Meyer & Grosch), and "a nice seldom seen rare old Case knife for the collector". I'm willing to bet that at least one of the blades is not original to this knife. Looks like a great job on the new pivot pin, maybe a nail was used?

As you're aware of, Herb, my knife identification skills are sorely lacking, but even I can see from first glance there is somethin' wrong with those blades, and that definitely looks like a finishing nail for the pivot!
So, when are you going to get it so you can perform your transformation magic on it?

I don't know enough to say if a Case blade was added to another knife, or another blade added to a Case, but either way it is definitely not original!
At least the price is not outrageous.

I am sure that enough people will bid without knowing that the auction will get crazy.

Mark, I'm suspect that this old dog will be well beyond my skills for a rescue project by the time the bidding is over. But, thanks for the vote of confidence in my limited abilities buddy!

Don't be so modest, my friend, if you have the skill you have the skill, period!
Whatever you're doing, Herb, is a far sight better than me seeing as I haven't even made an attempt at re-building the "Slant" auto you sent me!
There doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day for everything I need done!
If you end-up with the knife for restoration, the changes you make I'm sure will be an improvement!

Mark, this "red herring" is already bid up beyond what I would consider a reasonable investment. But, the story gets even more interesting, which is why I called this a "red herring" (slang for something that doesn't really exist). I just now noticed the pattern number stamp on the Case Bradford blade, and I'm pretty sure that it is C61050, which means it should be a single-blade knife! I guess that means that this knife was quite likely a Mayer & Grosch Toledo 2-blade knife, and someone installed the Case blade as a replacement.

It's just that I enjoy viewing what you can do to a POS knife to bring it back to life, so I try to drop subtle hints on you.
I'll bet you had to pause when deciding whether to post the definition of a "red herring" or not, because you were wondering how many folks already knew and might think, "does he think we're dumb?", but I'm glad you did cuz my entire life I thought the term referred to something fake, but didn't realize it's true meaning until you explained, "something that doesn't really exist", big difference.
