Mammoth

Post by e3ck »

This is a new one for me.
The bolsters are mammoth ivory
Scales are mammoth tooth
Brass liners with damascus spring and blade with .005" washers at the pivot.
Blade is apr3" an it's 7.5" open.
Mammoth tooth is real tricky to work with :?

Thank you

VERY - very nice, those mammoth ivory bolsters look killer against that tooth. I like working with tooth so far, you did a great job. When I see sharp looking custom knife like this I really enjoy it.

Thanks for sharing, I enjoy seeing a well made knife! ::tu:: ::tu::

Am trying to finish a knife with mammoth tooth and noticed your statement about it being real tricky to work with. Could you please elaborate on that?

Due to it being so hard and brittle I found that thw best way to cut it was with a high speed jewelers saw I built for MOP. For chamfering holes I found that a diegrinder rock works better than a countersink.
