I think it's a puma...

Post by ThatWeirdKnifeGuy »

But I can't find any other known examples and I don't know much about German brands. I've searched the bay, puma's website and everywhere else I can think of. I know they have serial numbers to find production dates, but there's no numbers in the specified spots. So its fake or a pre-1964. The sides are likely just stainless but possibly sterling. They're weakly magnetic but that could be the liners. Didn't tarnish with bleach but could be polished/waxed. Seemed to melt ice faster than a similar specimen but it's tough to say. Says rostrfrei on pile side of both blades, puma solingen with a big kitty on the mark side.

Context: I found a garage/estate sale where the people running it knew the deceased but were unfamiliar with much of the stuff. Alot was in bins with make an offer signs. They had alot of fantasy swords and mall weapons from china laid out with 10-20 dollars each, so i dug through the bins and found this knife, an old vic alox, a small western cut co pen knife with mop scales and 2 throwing knives (othello and edge brand both solingen made). I found all non-chinese stamps and paid 8 dollars for it all.

So what do you dudes think? Puma? I

It looks like a correct Puma stamp. Plus I don't think anyone would try to counterfeit a fob knife. Nice find.
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

Thanks for your input friend. I suppose I should have mentioned that it's 3 1/2 inches closed with no bail or ring, so I think it's technically an equal end pen. But I agree with your point. Either style would be less likey counterfeit targets considering puma's other well known models. Im curious though if you've seen one like this before? I can't find anything even remotely similar.

I have not seen one quite like this. Most of the folding Pumas I have seen are hunting related. Try doing a web search and see if something pops up. 😉👍
