Need help

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

Need help

Post by Landser64 »

I have a Camillus 4 blade military knife that I have all the parts for but the pins. It just needs assembly. Can someone help me put this thing together?

I think you should watch youtube for the tutorial to be easier to understand.

It's probably a lot more complicated than you may think. When you say that you "have all the parts" are you just planning to reuse the worn handle scales, or are you making new ones? We have lots of very good tutorials here on AAPK and I also recommend that watch some of them. Click on the word "Forum" at the top of your screen and then scroll down to and click on "Knife Related Tutorials" and you can then pick the forums you want to watch.

Two very good ones that I watched many times when I was getting started on knife repair years ago are:
viewtopic.php?t=13147 and
viewforum.php?f=38.

Also, you will need to know the size (diameter) of the pins you will need. Frequently the pivot pins, rocker pin and scale pins are all different sizes. I recommend only using brass for the scale pins, and either NS (nickel silver) or plain steel, depending on what the bolsters are made of, for the other pins.
