All About Pocket Knives

A friend recently gave me one of the old Geo. Schrade wite knives and while I have a few of them, this one has a brass blade. I’m wondering if it might have been a prototype. I can’t think of any good reason for a brass blade except that it might have been an easy way to make a blade that’s just for show. Does anyone have any knowledge about this?

A miners / explosives expert knife , no sparks while working in a mine or with explosives . Very rare and valuable .

Good info! I thought it was brass, but it does look like copper.

Not for dynamite which will just burn slowly if lit on fire. Dynamite is very stable stuff, it takes a strong explosion like from a blasting cap to make dynamite explode. A spark will not ignite it nor will a bullet like in the western movies. There are dynamite knives which have a crimper for crimping blasting caps but the blade and/or reamer for making the blasting cap hole are steel.

We had a beryllium pry bar floating around our shop when I was in Iraq. I really wanted to take it when we left, but honor got in the way.
