My First Rough Ryder RR2181

Stopped by my local Thrift store a while back and they had a display case of knives set out with 20 or 30 knives in it. Mostly junk but I saw 3 of these plus a yellow handle whittler carbon classic, your choice $5.00. Bought this one but passed on the whittler cause the blades were not right on it. Was so impressed with the fit and finish I went back the next Saturday and bought the other 2 of these they had. Nice knives, 2 will go to my grand sons, 1 I will keep.

Very nice, Nick.
I've had my copy for about 6 months and it's a great knife.
Congratulations!

It is always nice to be pleasantly impressed with a knife. That one looks good.

Clueless,
You should check out the Rough Rider Reserve.
D2 steel blades and a lot more hand crafting.
The fit and finish is second to none. Most of them are in the $45-$60 range with a few that are higher.

They cost a lot more than $5.00!

They do but they are better quality. The regular Rough Rider is a great bargain and for $5 I’d say that was a steal.

Oscar, they are surprisingly good looking knives. Went by that thrift store this afternoon and the vendor had added these to the case. So at $5.00 a piece I couldn't pass on them. This is one of those little stores that rents out booths to different people and I have never met the seller but if they keep adding knives I will keep buying them.
Rough Ryder Reserve ---Rhino ?---a few very minor scratches and one little ding on the bolster end but pretty nice.
2 Queen City knives with some sort of fancy covers--nice looking
These are not really my cup of tea but at $5.00 how can you not buy them?

Nick,
$5 is a great price for Rough Rider but $5 for the Rough Rider Reserve is a steal. New they go for $45-$90. And for Queen,it goes without say. You found a great source ! I’d keep buying from that dealer ! You are lucky ! I rarely find bargains like that.

Thanks QS.
The ones I posted are Rough Rider Reserve.
They are an upgrade in that they use D2 instead of 440A and they have a lot more hand work on them. Fit and finish are excellent.
The regular Rough Rider knives are a great value also and they are the best for EDC. They function well and they are cheap enough so it’s not a big deal if you break or lose them.

Those are two very nice Queen City canoes. They are advertised as Black MoP and Abalone, but at the price point I guess it could be artificial. Both are “bargain buys” at both SMKW and or CKW prices but at $5.00 each you got a super deal.

Sounds like you found a honey hole, Nick! At $5 apiece, I don’t blame you! Poor guy who has a booth there where he has to pay rent and a percentage to the store - well, he’s all but giving these away!
