Stag Therapy For An Old "Splitter"

When this big boy 1960's "railsplitter" arrived a few days ago I was worried about what was lurking under the shrinking covers. But, I didn't think it was celluloid outgassing and after I pried off the covers and scraped off the green powdery stuff, there was no metal damage whatsoever. Just some kind of composite doing the "shrinky-dink". I used some sambar stag that I dyed with mahogany leather dye. The blades have the original factory edges and there wasn't a single sign of use or even "shop handling" marks, so it must have been hiding somewhere for 55 + years.

Fantastic work! Looks mint and the handles are definitely a major improvement. You did an awesome job on this knife.
