All About Pocket Knives

I am looking for a blade for this knife. Would the repair be a waste of time and money? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I would contact Case repair and ask what they'd charge to replace that blade. Keep your fingers crossed and they might do it for free. In the process they'll likely do some polishing and buffing. A few years ago Buck was charging $10 to replace the blade and clean up one of their flagship 110s.

Afterwards you'd post here what a great company Case is to do business with.

Beats taking a knife into the Chinese embasy to ask for repair.

Thanks. I have emailed Case. Haven’t heard anything back yet.
But I might consider the embassy thing as a last resort.

It has considerable wear so collector value is low. A replacement blade of similar vintage (1965-69?) from a donor knife would help its value some. Otherwise it’s an EDC user, in which case any blade that fits will do. Someone more familiar with the pattern would know whether current Case parts would fit, but I wouldn’t bet on it. JMO

Asking Case Repair is a good idea - the worst they can do is say “no”. I doubt they consider a broken blade to be a free repair covered by warranty. Knives aren’t made for prying. They might offer you a good deal on a new knife though.

Case likely wont have the proper blade. I know it seems weird but things change from decade to decade.

Pretty sure I'd have a blade to work in that. PM me as a last resort.

As another "last resort" idea, a blade deletion can be done. Here is a post where I had one with a broken blade and busted handles. You just take the knife apart, remove the broken blade and backspring, and put it back together as a thinner knife.

Ok. I thought I would give you guys an update on my knife blade search. I did not hear back from Case. I sold the knife to a guy at a flea market for what I had in it. The next day I got an email from Case. They would not fix it, but if I sent them the knife they would give me a $75 credit. That would have been about three times what I paid for it. So I jumped the gun. I wish they hadn’t taken two weeks to respond. But I did get my money back on the knife so all is well. Thanks for your suggestions.

Thank-you for writting how it ended. The lessons are give companies time and Case treats their customers well. $75 was generous.
