Canal Barge Kutmaster

Found this on Ebay. For $1 + $7.95 shipping
It was listed as “Knife and Sheath”. Not very descriptive.
My bottom feeding trick is when I have a few minutes to kill. I’ll search “knife”. It returns about a billion results. Sort by ending soonest and start scrolling. This one had 20 minutes to go with no bids. It looked interesting so I bid the minimum. It looks unused, Sway Back shape, the fully serrated blade is unusual, blade and sheath are marked Canal Barge . The handle is plastic. The bail is sized generously to say the least. I’d call it a rope knife.
I was surprised when I searched Canal Barge it’s exactly that. A company that moves freight on barges in canals based in New Orleans. Silly me, I was expecting it to be a micro brewery or something.
So now I’m wondering if it is actually something they issue to the workers? The sheath is really sturdy and it would be a dandy emergency rope knife.
This is the perfect example of why I search that way. Sometimes you get lucky and find a poorly written title. If they had listed UTICA or KUTMASTER I bet more people would’ve bid.
Anyway if anyone has more info on the knife or Canal Barge co. I’d love to hear it.
