All About Pocket Knives

Hi, I have a Case Tested XX Scout knife that has what are called Fiberloid scales. It's an odd reddish composite material that resembles imitation wood. Have only found one reference to it online. Assume it had a short run in the forties. Any info appreciated, trying to get a rough value to list it fairly. TIA

Sargent’s 7th edition says they were made for the U.S. Navy during WWII. There is no picture, just a listing.

Hey, thanks for the reply. It sure is an odd knife. I seem to have a knack for finding different ones. I spend most of my time collecting axes and fixed blades, but the pocket knives seem to follow me home. Been selling a few at a time in the Facebook knife groups. Thanks again, Good hunting!

It is indeed an odd one. Somewhere I have one of these red fiberloid Case scout patterns with a bolsters and a clip master blade. Pretty rare to see a scout/utility pattern with a clip master, so I’ve always been skeptical of it (else I’d claim it as being a rare find). I think I posted it somewhere here several years ago but I can’t find the post. I still have it somewhere (I will not pass it on unless it’s authenticity can be verified). Not that it will help with your question anyway.

Edit: I found a picture of it.

I had a Tested Daddy Barlow with these red fibroid handles. It doesn't decompose like celluloid but can they tend to warp and shrink a bit. The knife I had was warped and the handles lifted a bit at the bolster ends. Not at all a common material for Case.
