Great Sea Master! I admire them but don’t collect them. My buddy daily’s a Luminox, and has an awesome Accutron Space Veiw, and is a sucker for diver watches of all types. I have had my eyes on Ball wrist watches, a nice used can be had for $650 or so but out of my budget for now. I wear the lowly Citizen Eco-Drive , military style design, self charging quartz that is dead accurate and got a nice used one for $55. I want a NATO band for it but haven’t ever bothered to order one. I’m also thinking about a Seiko 5 sport automatic.

I admire watches too but I tend to prefer Quartz for their accuracy, ease of maintenance, and relatively low cost.
The only Automatic watch I own is this Orient Ray 2.
But here are my top 3 favorites in order of preference:
Casio Lineage. Love this watch because it is completely self-sufficient. As long as it gets enough light which it always does, I never have to adjust the time or the date. Both are always accurate with no intervention from me.
Islander Ameriquartz.
Citizen Promaster Tough.

A Fortis Swiss watch*.
* FORTIS Watches AG (formerly FORTIS Uhren AG), located in Grenchen is a luxury Swiss watches manufacturer that was founded by Walter Vogt in 1912. The brand is particularly known for robust, highly precise, automatic tool watches.

I don't collect watches, but I do wear a Baume & Mercier Chronograph automatic. It has been on my wrist almost every day for the last 15+ years.
I did make the mistake at about 10 years in sending it into the Baume & Mercier USA service center for a cleaning and oiling. There was nothing wrong with the watch at the time, but the instructions said cleaning and oiling was recommended, so I sent it in. It never kept good time after getting it back from the $600 service, and then it quit nearly a year later. I sent it back to service, and it came back working and keeping time nearly as well as it did before the first service. Each service cycle from home to service to home took about 2-3 months, and I felt naked during those times without the watch. Anyway, the watch has been on daily since and it won't go back to service unless it quits, and then I'll pay the premium to send it back to the Swiss factory.

The Baume & Mercier Chronograph automatic is a great watch

I don't own a Baume & Mercier, but I have seen them and they have some really beautiful pieces. Very nice

Nice group Toomanyknives. I see you have a liking for chronographs. I sure love the looks of them too, and would like a mechanical automatic one at some point.

This is a couple of pictures I made to show how I made watch boxes from tea boxes, C-Wade. I have a few more nicer watches that I keep
hidden away. One of my favorite automatic chrono watches is my 1975 Seiko that I restored. I don't have any really expensive watches, but
I do like older ones.. Thanks. Here's a pic of the Seiko..And here's a pic of an automatic chrono I have that's kinda' cool..

That is a very nice Seiko Toomanyknives

I pulled out several watches that needed something done to them, new battery, new pin to hold the watch band, new watch band, and one of them is this one pictured.

I need to get a new band for my automatic Seiko, so I can start wearing it again.

Nice TMK!

... I'm pretty enthusiastic about most automatics,

I just think the mechanics of it are quite ingenious...

I know that feeling. This was my dad's watch. It's worth about $200.00, and it cost me $250.00 to restore it. Sentimental value can be a bear..

Change in life direction + the move for a year, I had to leave my knife collection behind.
Thankfully 3 years ago I started down the path of horology, and haven't looked back. Plunged right in as you would say.
My latest addition, a German/Swiss Meistersinger single hander. Day-date function.
Got it for a third of msrp.
