Found this today. 8-1/2" overall, 4-1/2" blade, Nice sheath with square knot pattern and Scout emblem button. Is there a model number? Date range? Thanks. J.O'.

L66 8.75 inches overall, 125 grams, L36 9.91 inches overall, 164 grams. Your knife was made before 1973, I think, but someone here knows more.

Thanks a lot. Here's a pic of the tip. The swedge is pretty close to the end. Maybe it's a bit short. My best measurement is just shy of 8-5/8". An L66 I guess. Thanks again.

J.O'.

Somehow I missed seeing this thread when it started.
As far as date of manufacture goes, sometime between about 1955 and 1960.
The "square knot" sheath started being used sometime in the middle of the 1950s. Late 1940s and early 1950s sheath sported the "National HQ" stamp and 1954/1955 saw a lot of changes.
The 1st Class rank stamp was replaced with the Tenderfoot rank stamp starting in 1961 for ALL BSA items, not just knives.

Cool knife, J.O'.

I have one with the same sheath, didn't know if it was original. I think I have a second one with a different sheath that has Boy Scouts markings on it.

Hey Red, I'd like to see those sheaths just for later comparisons. Thanks, O'.

Well, J.O', I looked in 3 boxes under my train layout with no success. But there's a box at the other end I'll check out over the weekend.

Sounds like your "system" is similar to mine.
