In case you need another conspiracy theory, I keep wondering why they only had a 200 yard surveillance perimeter for any major candidate for president and left a rooftop with a clear view of the candidate totally unsecured. Barney Fife wouldn't have made that seriously bad call. That isn't a mistake. That is helping to cause something bad to happen. People shoot deer with a common rifle not known for exceptional accuracy at that distance all the time. It that's the best we've got to protect our politicians or anyone for that matter we feel we need to protect, we are in really bad shape. Also, the security people didn't seem to have any trouble shooting the shooter. That should have told everyone they had let him way too close. This whole thing brings up all kinds of questions that need answers, and I doubt any real answers are coming. God help us all.____Dave

I was shocked to see and hear what happened.
My heart goes out to the woman who was wounded, and to the family of the man who was killed.
Our country's history is filled with assassinations and attempts at it, yet at the same time I am thankful that it is rare enough to still shock us.
When we stop listening to the corrupt news media and political elites who seek to divide us, and instead talk to neighbors and friends (no matter their political ideology), you will find that we have much more in common than you are lead to believe. There are some who have bought into the hype to the level that they won't talk to anyone with a different point of view. That is sad. When we stop talking, people tend to resort to violence.
This level of hatred is the cancer of our politics right now.

Don't worry. Merrick Garland and the FBI are in charge of the investigation into Mayorkas's Secret Service.
Doesn't that make everyone feel better? I didn't think so.
My prayers to the family of the person killed and the folks injured yesterday.

Astute observations Dave!
If this Administration has so little regard for such a high profile person as the former president and leading opposition presidential candidate and is so inept at protecting him, I am very concerned about their ability to protect the people of this nation.

No need for any conspiracy theories here. The very larger number of 20 something young men and their mental problems, threats they make, and crimes they commit can easily explain this. A year ago I came very close to being a victim of one of these young men. If things had not gone my way, I would not be writing this.

It was a set up. Period. From where, we don't know. A young punk with a rifle gets to crawl on top of a huge building 130 yards from a President?
And here's something I haven't heard anyone bring up....did the kid scout or know the building? How did he know he could get up there? He lived twenty miles away, so it's not like he lived there and knew that farm grounds unless he did from some other time in his life.

100% AGREED......no way he knew, but I've heard it wasn't him. Been watching Twitter.....

I agree with what’s been posted. Something’s that bothers me is the head of the Secret Service has a goal of making the work force 30% women. Why not make it the most qualified to protect the president instead?
Also did you notice how exposed Pres Trump was with the women in the detail surrounding him. Couldn’t they get people, men or women who match his height? The men that were surrounding him were at least as tall as him and provided cover, but he stood a head taller than the women on the detail. Is this what DEI leaves us with?
I admired his courage and defiance and felt pride when he raised his fist.

Thank God he is going to be alright. No one should be assassinated because of differing political beliefs.
According to published reports, the shooter was a registered Republican, not "leftist scum".

That doesn’t mean anything. We have people around here who register Republican so they can vote for the weakest primary candidate so that is who the Democratic challenger will face in the general election in the fall. That happens a lot in strong Republican districts like I am in.

Any person who will shoot another for no reason and thinks nothing of it has mental issues. Our country has a serious mental health problem, yet blame is put on everything else under the sun.

For now, he is my ex-president. He is, ostensibly, a candidate for election to the office. Only time will tell! If one embraces American citizenship, the person duly elected to the office of PotUS is, whether it is the candidate you supported and voted for or not, is "your president". Stating otherwise is tantamount to saying you have no confidence in, and do not support the governmental system instituted when "The Colonies" fought for and won independence from the English monarchy.
I don't really know, but it is my opinion (and I could be wrong), if this was truly a "leftist scum" conspiracy they would have chosen a more competent "sniper", one that could do more damage than just nick an ear at 200 yards, It seems more like a mentally ill young man trying to get his "15 minutes of fame". Or, just maybe, the person killed was the actual target and the shooter knew they would be at the rally. That would make Mr. Trump "collateral damage", a terrible situation that seems to be far too readily accepted these days. It seems there is a fourth possibility. The "assassination attempt" was actually a RNC staged "false flag". That would be as bad, maybe worse, than either of the other possibilities, because that would mean there was one innocent person killed and one severely injured as "collateral damage" in a political stunt gone wrong. These are questions that will probably never be answered to the satisfaction of everyone.

Funny how more and more videos are appearing of the normal citizen seeing the shooter on the roof adjusting himself while laying there, but the SS couldn't.
