August 2024 Forum Member Knife Giveaway

Post by bestgear »

For the August 2024 Giveaway, we have a very special donation of a Gerber Sportsman II kindly donated by gordonjohn (Gordon) who was also a donor in May of last year! Thank you, Gordon, for your kindness and benevolence!

Gerber introduced the Folding Sportsman I in 1976 and continued production until approximately 1995. According to AAPK legend Orvet (Dale), there is something iconic about the Folding Sportsman series of knives in that they are the knife that typically comes to mind when one thinks of a Gerber pocketknife. The design of the folding sportsman fits very well into any hand and here’s your chance to add one to your pocket.

This knife measures 4.50” closed and features wood handles and brass liners.

Good Luck!
Instructions for entering the giveaway...

Simply click here and select a number between 0 and 999.

You will have until August 31st (6:00 P.M. Eastern) to pick a number, after which entries will not be considered. The Illinois State Lottery evening pick-three drawing will determine the winner on August 31st. The individual closest to the selected number without going over will win. The Illinois lottery results can be found on the following website:

https://www.illinoislottery.com/dbg/results/pick3

To be eligible to win, you must be 18 years of age and either (a) have made at least 100 total forum posts at the time of entering the monthly giveaway or (b) have previously donated successfully to at least one prior monthly knife giveaway.

Please ensure that your Board Preferences Miscellaneous Notifications are set to notify you via email when someone sends you a Private Message (PM) to ensure the time requirements below are met.

The first-place winner will be sent an AAPK PM after the drawing and will have three days to respond with contact and shipping information. If the first-place winner does not respond within three days, the knife will be offered to the next player on the list without going over.

The next-place winner will be sent an AAPK PM, and they will have one day to respond with contact and shipping information. If the next-place winner does not respond within one day, the knife will be offered in the same manner to the next player on the list without going over.

Again, good luck to all eligible participants!

I received the Gerber knife from Gordon today and it's even more beautiful in your hand. But imagine my surprise when I saw it came with a nylon sheath but wait, I picked it up and told Cheryl there is something it the sheath. Upon opening it I found another Gerber Lockback and a note that read "Greetings from Packer Country." Okay I will salute the "cheeseheads" of Packer Country just this once. These are two wonderful additions to my collection. Gordon you're a good man, thank you very much sir and God Bless... ::tu::

Not only a GAW, David, but a very cool GAW from Gordy, I'm certain plenty of thought regarding the "right" knife to send went through his mind prior to choosing, and the little extras confirm that.
Both are really nice knives, and the smaller model is one I haven't seen before now and I sure like it. Well done, fellas, your colors are shining brightly. ::tu::

Well you really made David the recipient smile, Gordy, I haven't read a post from him that contained more than a dozen words so far to date, and now after receiving his knife he typed out an entire paragraph. You lit a fire under him, buddy. ::groove::
