Schrade 8OT rebuilt in Elk

This Schrade USA 8 OT had a tipped main blade.
I ground a new tip on the blade, but just as an example for a video short:
https://youtube.com/shorts/U881lGGt2Jc? ... cErveKpQiF

After that video, I replaced the main, cleaned up the other two blades, and dressed him up in a new Elk antler suit.
The NOS replacement blade is marked "Heritage" on the front, and 889H on the back. The Elk came from a pet supply store, and cost me more than the knife did! Still, I believe that it was worth it. The red spacers really pop, in my opinion.
It has a slight blade rub on the two small blades, but I find it acceptable as the blades still snap.
The pins did not completely disappear, so I may go back and polish it a bit more.

That's a nice one! Those red spacers do make the knife pop for sure.

You can try to chase those pins, but in my experience, they may never get better, and you'll lose more bolster metal. On the (frequent) occasion when that happens to me, I find the best fix unfortunately is to re-do the pin altogether.

Very nice. I personally don't remember ever seeing spacers on a pocket knife before. Eye catching to say the least. Well done.

Reverand, you turned an ordinary, every-day knife into a thing of beauty! As everyone else has said, that elk stag and red spacers really make that knife POP! I really wouldn't worry about the pins showing thru the bolsters. Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't and I've given up worrying about it. For a while I thought there must be a secret to this, but as far as I know, even the best professional knife mechanics haven't found the holy grail yet. ::tu:: ::tu::

The video is up for this repair, just in case y'all want to watch me mess up a time or two.

(edit) Hurray! I finally got the Youtube magic link to work correctly! My first time! I just need to always do it from my computer, not my iPhone!

I watched that video at least a day ago, before this thread. :D

I love the work you do, and I have Lots of questions....eventually.

I will be trying that trick you passed on to TKD, Kevin, about cutting the pins. I have a three bladed Kutmaster where I want to slim it down to a single blade (the primary).

Thank You and keep up the Great work!
