All About Pocket Knives

HELLO ALL.....interesting advertising pocket knife..scott sewing machine co..has a scotty dog with pearl handles..i cant find alot of info on this company and i cant find another knife like this one..the tang stamp says LIPIC USA..does anyone know this maker..blades snap closed strong and have no nicks. but the blades have some rust marks on one side .it says SAMPLE L-50..is this a salesman sample???...thanks andy

I think that's an old mark that Camillus used around the 1920's or 30's. The handles are celluloid, not pearl. I think that "sample" mark was somehow related to the company and not a salesman's sample. They would have marked that separately and not included it in an actual stamp.

Lipic was Joseph Lipic Pen Co. St. Louis, MO. and advertising and pen point company begun in 1863 and still in business as Lipic Engagement. Not sure who their knife jobber was but Camillus is likely. I have a few. I'll try to dig them out for pics. That's a nice one you have.Looks like '50's-60's. Hard to say. J.O'.

Found some info in Goins. I was a bit off on the dates, was actually 1927 to 1940.

When you write the post you should see a section (I think near the bottom) that says "Options" with a list of items with check boxes. If you check the box that says "Notify me when a reply is posted" you'll get a message each time there's a reply.
