Brookes & Crookes marking question

Here is a lovely little one-blade pen knife from Brookes & Crookes. The handles are ivory (as best as I can tell), and I'm pretty sure the edge is factory original.
It's marked "Brookes & Crookes" with the bell logo, and "Sheffield/England" (the word "England" is almost completely hidden under the bolster, but you can see the upper corners of the letters "E" and "D" when the blade is at an angle). The pile side is marked with something that looks like it could be "Imported", below which is more, which I can't fully decipher. Looks like it could be "Angleterre", which is French for "England". Did B&C market specifically to the French market? Or am I off the mark here (no pun intended)?

Definitely Ivory.
The English marketed to any country they could sell to.

I said that because he's the one who sold it to me...
And yeah, it's a great little knife! I'll try to get more and better photos in the daylight, against the snow...

French word, "IMPORTE" translated, "an import". Agree, made for the French market. Great little quill knife. B & C 1849-1957. J.O'.

As promised, here are a few more photos in better light (I did not take them outside, though! Too stinking cold in the snow zone).
