Just got this knife. PAL 36 with interesting modifications to the handle. Uncertain if that happened during WW 2

curious if those might be poker chips used. Whip it out in a game "let me see under that sleeve mister"!

With Theater Made knives, it's whatever material was on hand. Could be poker chips. 😎

Never considered poker chips but would account for the colors.

While the colors could be viewed as patriotic, they are poor camouflage for jungle fighting. Also, why would the leather have needed to be replaced while the knife was only a few years old? I'm skeptical about the repair having been done during WW II.

Agree with you. Wouldn’t want to be down range with that target hanging on my web gear !! . Maybe done after the big war ?

Unfortunately there is no way to know. I agree that it would not be a great color scheme for combat. However folks do all kinds on things because they want to not necessarily because it makes sense.
