A newbie here who's acquired and used good knives all my life...
I have recently acquired six (6) each vintage Hen & Rooster pocket knives. I believe they are late 70's vintage; likely made during the Russell ownership era.
The following applies to all:
Handles: Stag (beautiful one-of- kind work)
Condition: New in Box. Absolutely pristine. NO signs of rust on blades; incredible factory original polish.
Models/Qty: (see 1978 Russell catalog page photo)
10-174/Two (2) each - 2 blade, 3 1/2" closed,
10-115/Two (2) each - 4 blade, 3" closed, and
10-116/Two (2) each - 3 blade, 3" closed.
Knife blades: Carbon Steel marked "Solingen, Gutmann, Germany". Unsharpened.
See attached photos for overview. More detailed photos can be provided.
I'm trying to help a friend in a tough spot find a good owner for these to offset his financial difficulties. Any recommendations?
Dan

Re: Hen & Rooster Vintage Knife Lot
Hi Dan!

AAPK offers 2 opportunities for selling knives through our site; an e-commerce storefront and direct forum sales.
Here's a link to the AAPK Member Store Program https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/ca ... ng_started which gives you access to a massive audience of highly targeted customers.
If your sales intentions are smaller in nature (which it sounds like they are), then setting up an e-commerce platform may not be optimal for you which is why AAPK provides the opportunity to sell knives in a topic called Knives For Sale Or Trade viewforum.php?f=31. To sell knives in this topic (or any topic) you'll need one of our premium subscriptions which can be found here: https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/ca ... scriptions. Our Bronze tier subscription ($20/year) allows 20 items/year to be sold on the knife forums, Silver tier subscription ($30/year) allows 50 items/year to be sold on the knife forums and the Gold tier subscription ($40/year) allows an unlimited number of items to be sold on the knife forums.
Lastly, just by making your intentions known in your post you may be contacted by one of the many knife dealers or collectors on AAPK so be forewarned!

Re: Hen & Rooster Vintage Knife Lot
Gutmann Cutlery Company started importing knives from Germany in 1949. During the late 1970s the exchange rate between the U.S. dollar and the German mark changed making German goods much more expensive for Americans. Consequently, Gutmann switched to importing most of their knives from Japan. Apparently Gutmann owned or paid to use the Hen & Rooster brand name when they imported your knives.
