While accumulating the Yello-Jaket Series of Camillus knives, I ended up with two 718Ys, which is the large stockman. I like larger knives, and really like traditional patterns, and you can't get much more traditional than the Stockman in my opinion, so I thought that I would really like this knife. So, I picked up with a 2nd one with the idea that it might be one of my carry knives that I actually used. But, I have resisted using either of these knives as they came brand new in the box. This is the biggest traditional folder that I have personally been around, and I wonder if it is going to seem too big to carry in the pocket. I have never been a fan of sheaths and like to just carry in my pocket. So, my question is, has anyone actually carried a Stockman this size in their pocket as a EDC, and if so, what is your impression?

josephashaw,
I carry a large stockman almost daily and for me they are prefect!
For years I've been stuck on a #39 Queen and before that a 6375 Case stockman. I don't have a 718Y Camillus, but I'm sure it would be just as handy as any decent full sized stockman that you could choose. (once in a while I'll carry a full size trapper, they aren't too big for my pocket)
They are big enough to hold on to, I've skinned deer with one, cut calves with one and on the other end of the spectrum, it'll sharpen a pencil, open a box or probably dig out a splinter and at the same time cut your apple or peel your orange. Ain't every knife can handle all those chores. :)
Enjoy your Yellowjacket 718Y, and keep one in the box. ::tu::

I carry a Case 63047 stockman, which is slightly smaller (3-7/8 inches) in my right front pocket. No problem. But likely a lot depends on what kind of pants you wear. Carry it and find out! ::tu::

I carry the large frame Case knives from time to time and agree with you that they are on the top end of sizes to pocket carry. I have either the Case 75 series which are 4 and 1/4 inches in either a stockman or moose pattern to choose from. i find that the larger size is actually easier to handle with arthritic conditions in the hands.
