Has anyone ever come across any of these knives?

That looks like an interesting and expensive little knife. ::tu:: ::tu::
I like the bone covers.

With the Cowpens, S.C. location it is in a very famous Revolutionary War setting.

I have not heard of him before, but I like the looks of his knife. Reminds me of one of the old Al Mar designs. ::tu::

Uncle Wimp made between 2,000 and 3,000 knives our family has managed to find around 10 or 12 of them. First on e I've come across in probably 5 or 10 years, couldn't let it get away. Maybe someone on here has seen or even has a couple.

During what time period was he making knives?

Unsure, he passed in 1999. 60s to 80s. The stamp that is on this knife was the last iteration, earlier knives were stamped with his name, the just WIMP, and then WIMP with the border around it.

I have never seen the older stamps, only the wimp or wimp with the border. I've heard it was some combination of winfred thomason.

There was a Wimp or Wimpy as a comic book or funny papers character back in the day so I don't think the nickname was insulting or such.
Nice looking knife.

I remember Wimpy, a Popeye character aways trying to mooch a hamburger, "if you'll let me have a burger I'll gladly pay you Tuesday ". Then there was Wimp Sanderson a basketball coach at Alabama for several years, Roll Tide.
By the way that's one good looking knife. ::tu:: x10
