All About Pocket Knives

My only pet peeve is weak snap. Any Case patterns in the current line up known for having good strong walk and talk? Thanks in advance.

I don’t know of any specific patterns but it has been my experience that Case knives with half stops generally seem to have slightly stronger pulls and harder snap.

I don’t recall ever handling a Case knife that I considered a “bear trap” but there might be some out there.

My experience with Case is that the larger knives like the folding Hunter have the strongest walk and talk. I feel the same way about the Buck 110. Welcome to AAPK!

Have you actually bought a new Case knife with weak snap? I do not have very many Case knives, but the only ones I have with a weak snap are Case Fish knives. I have a couple of Case Seahorse whittlers where the main blade is a nail breaker: too much snap for my taste. You could try one of those.

I've quit buying new Case knives because they tend to have too many issues, weak snap being just one. However, I agree with Mel about the Seahorse Whittler: those always had a pretty consistent hard snap. The only other hard snapping modern Case pattern I am familiar with is the Russlock. My two cents FWIW

I guess there's a point when pull is subjective.
If a blade flops open and closed on its one, yes, call it 0-1, depending on how floppy it is. Any thing tighter than that, what may be 3-4 for one, may be 5-6 for another, maybe even higher if one has brittle nails.
All that said, the majority of my purchases of new knives are Case. I'm happy with all of 'em. But that's me.
