Are you guys on the lookout for the lowest numbers on those serialized Schrades?

I'll start off with this Lake & Walker SLW1 coming it at knife number 0014.

165OT complete set. Ninth 165 ever made. I sent it to Michael Little in his last days.

Tough to beat #9! Michael must have been delighted to check his mail and find that waiting for him.

Michael said that the 0009 was for a salesman and that there were a few salesmen so a few tiny numbered knives. So it may or may not be the actual ninth knife made. They could have run a thousand of them or more and then stamped a few for the salesmen? We will never know. I wish I had it back; I really do.

I suppose low number is relative to how many were made.

This is a 1991 DU muskrat marked”0000”
I included a CSC etched “Walden”(The initial name of CSC) and a first year anniversary marked “001” what they all have in common is they were created by Harold Buley. Harold ran Schrades custom shop. All the commemoratives and new designs came out of his shop. In 2004 Wally Gardiner had Harold and other cutlers from the shop join him at his new company. Harold was a big part of both companies and a made a huge contribution to the industry during his time. Thanks Jason for starting this thread. Hope it’s ok I added some Canal Streets here. As you know they were made by the same people on the same equipment in the old Schrade factory. I have some more low serial # Schrade. Just have to dig them out and I’ll post them up.

Some of those very low number knives were salesman's samples, some were maybe dealer samples, some were serialized in limited editions made to be sold to everyman, and some were authentic pit run knives out the door.

Cal that is a real sweetheart. SW 165uh is my favorite schrade fixed blade. Lowest serial# I’ve seen for that.

Those initials are pretty much equal to serial #1!

Here's #014 of the gold Statue of Liberty knife. Just a coincidence that it's the same serial number as the Lake & Walker I started this thread with - I don't only buy 14s.

Here are some serialized Pre production knives signed by Master Cutler Don Lewis and an article from the 1984 Schrade Almanack of an interview of Mr. Lewis.

The 285 in this display has 067 serial. I don’t want to take it out because the green backing turns to dust when you touch it. If I’m not mistaken the serial numbers started with the SW 897uh and it’s new loss replacement plan in 1967?? If that’s true I think the 897 with the lowest serial number is as low as this can go. Most of my 897’ are tied up in displays but I have this one with a pretty high #.

I forgot the Barnetts were serialized - #41 I dug mine out and 'discovered' I have green #66 and red #57!
