All About Pocket Knives

Hi all. I wanted to share a couple (the first and only two) kitchen knives I've made. The smaller one went to my mother. The larger is for my son, I made it for him for his 30th bday. He loves to grill out and bbq so I thought it would be a good gift. He recently moved to Japan (Air Force) so it'll be heading there in a few days. I think if I had it to do this one over I would have used another wood for the scabbard. I love the Black Ash Burl but maybe a bit to busy? Maybe a straighter grain wood might have been better? Thanks for looking, comments and critiques welcome.

Both knives and scabbards look great. The matching scabbard is an intetesting approach. The recipients will no doubt cherish the gifts.

Wow. You say that's the only 2 you've made? Beautiful knives and I'm sure very functional in the kitchen. Anybody would be proud to own one

Thanks. I started out making fixed blades years ago but about 8 years ago I went specifically to slipjoints. I had never made a kitchen knife before these. It was definitely a little more challenging get the edge so thin without overheating. And these are the first two I've made with AEB-L. My biggest issues was being used to working with smaller blades. It seemed like it took forever to grind and hand finish lol.
