Was curious as why people are damaging the quarters in my area. Getting them in change, also got some in rolls from my bank.

Sometimes at least people are coming out of stores and are getting their keys out of their pockets and coins fall out on the pavement. They lay there and are run over repeatedly until someone finds them and pick them up. They spend them and they stay in circulation. My theory anyway.

I've done that several times, even found some jewelry and pocket knives a few times. ::handshake::

I lost a pocket knife that way--a short line Camillus 14 that I had re-handled in candy-stripe acrylic. Came out of my pocket as I was going to the theater. I retraced my steps, but never did find it. I'm still sad about that one...

When I worked traffic 🚥 signals I found a lot of change around intersections. Especially around fast food places. Some folks, rather than deal with change just threw it out . Made no sense to me.
