All About Pocket Knives

A few posts down there's the thread where I started playing around with bar stock, thinking I could maybe make a knife. I built a forge, failed miserably, built a second forge, and ground, heated, quenched, baked and destroyed my way through a few bars of O1. Having learned many things in this process, I promised I'd have something to show for it all, and when I did, I'd post it here

Blued O1 and Oak Burl, Brass pins. A different filework pattern for me as well. A nice little spear point patch knife (little being the operative word. bout 6 and 3/4, total). I don't have anything sheath wise yet, but this will be a nice little slicer for around the yard. It gets VERY sharp, and stays that way

Thank you for the comments everyone. It's all your fault I started doing this anyways . I have another small patch knife I blanked out with more of a drop point to it. I might get the process started on that one this weekend or whatnot.

I love getting new wood, it's like Christmas I just got in the oak burl a few days ago, with some really awesome blocks. It's the most plain of the bunch I think

Left to right
some completely natural colored (undyed) sycamore lace, with colors you cannot believe. almost purple across that center stripe
Across the top is some spalted Alder, insane looking stuff
and some spalted mango,
then some more of the oak burl. I slabbed them down from blocks the other day, the rest is in my wood box

All of it stabilized, which makes it so much nicer to polish and work with.
