Here is a pic of my first attempt at carving out an old man. Have to practice on the eyes some more. Hope that you like it. I whittled it out of a piece of red cedar that was lying around.

I'm still working on chain links - I'm finding it a lot harder than the ball and cage project!

How does carving cedar compare to basswood?

Hey TM
To me the cross grain on cedar is easier to cut because the grain seems to be a little tighter. Just my opinion. Yeah, those chain links are a little more challenging. Just take your time though. Post a pic when you finish. :lol: :lol: :lol:
