Some that need some tlc...

Here are some Case Classics and one little German knife that need to be re-done. The Classic won't bring a top price; a little cell damage, scratches. One of you knife gurus could clean them up to, probably, NM. Great for file working, new handles, etc. I'd like to have one of the 1072's, the Sowbelly whittler and the barndoor hinge toothpick, fixed up for myself. I would trade the others and the necessary "boot" to get the work done. I want them to edc.
I need ideas. If YOU were going to have these re-done, what would YOU do? I really respect ya'll's opinions.
Gnarly stag(not elk) on the 1072? Mammoth tooth on the toothpick? Desert ironwood on the 1072?
HELP? I don't know... ::shrug::

Bill,
The possibilities are endless.
I would LOVE to have a shot at that one with barndoor bolsters. ::ds:: ::ds::

I have some nice jig bone in stock that would look good on some of those.
I even have some unusual jigging patterns in bone from Culpeppers.

Maybe ivory on that little guy.
I also have a bunch of ebony, desert ironwood & cocobolo too.

Let me know what you think,
Dale

PS-I have some mammoth tooth in stock as well. I am not sure how it would work with the barndoor bolsters, but it would be fun!

Some amber stag from Culpepper's would look nice also.

Here is a Buck 110 I did in their amber stag.

Thanks!
They dye the stag and it comes out with some color.
Some pieces look like they are much old pieces of stag.

I think that the blackest, darkest wood you could find would be awesome on the barn door....

For the sowbelly, I would try to use something that felt "warm" in my hand...again wood. How about some nice cherry burl?

For the biggun's - well, I'm really partial to linen or canvas micarta on "work" knives. I rough it up to about 200 grit (max) and it seems to have a nice feel, is bomb proof and cleans well.

For file work, I would not do the sowbelly as I think the filework would interfere with handling the blades for whittling. However, I would hit the bigguns with some nice rope filework. I like rope because I have found it easier to do, and easier to clean than that fancy vinework that MM does....(plus, I'm not that good!!)

Cheers,
Jaye
